History of St. Andrew
St. Andrew Lutheran Church began in the fall of 1993 as
a mission of St. Peters Lutheran Church in Richmond, conducting bible study
every other Wednesday at the Memphis Youth Center. One reason for the
mission was to present a Lutheran presence in the area, there had never been
a Lutheran church in Memphis before this.
This mission started from an idea proposed at an
evangelism meeting at St. Peters Lutheran Church in Richmond Michigan. The
idea was proposed to 12 members under the guidance of Pastor Helms and
Pastor Doroh. The enthusiasm grew and Warren Priehs, a certified lay
minister was appointed to head up the mission. Twenty families began meeting
biweekly at the Memphis Youth Center for bible study.

St. Andrew is eternally grateful to
Laborers for Christ for unselfishly

Lutheran Church. They will always hold a special
place in the hearts of all our members at St. Andrew.
Thanks be to God for these special families
that were sent to help with our building project. The members of St.
Andrew also want to thank all who helped and their families, to see this
project done to the glory of God.
